How long does it take to import from Japan to the time I can take the car home?

Typically from the time of your first installment to the time you drive away here in NZ allow around 6 weeks.

I have found a Japanese website and they said they can buy for me also.
Would you recommend this?

If they can give you some sort of legally binding guarantee that they will stand behind it may be worth exploring. Unfortunately in many cases either the vehicle may not arrive after payment or doesn’t meet our ever changing compliance rules and standards. Many Japanese companies don’t know our rules and wash their hands once the vehicle has been paid for and left their shores. In the event of an issue as you’re dealing with an overseas company this can be challenging and make sorting a resolve near impossible.

Are our local dealers allowed to sell crash repaired cars?

Yes they are. If a car was crashed and repaired overseas prior to being imported you may be looking at one on a yard right now unaware of this. By law if a vehicle has entered the country damaged or was previously written off overseas they are to declare this to you. Sadly not always the case. Here at I2O we guarantee the quality of our vehicles. We will only recommend non accident grade vehicles.

What happens if there is an issue at compliance or the vehicle is not able to be complied here?

I2O are responsible for the successful compliance and roadworthiness of your vehicle. You pay no additional costs even if something is needed at compliance. If the vehicle is deemed unroadworthy or non compliant for what ever reason you will be reimbursed in full for any monies payed to us. (*This does not apply to customers buying vehicles for parts or race purposes or who seek to comply the vehicle themselves).

Are the vehicles insured?

Yes. All vehicles though I2O have full marine cover insurance right the way up to the point where you collect the keys.

Are the vehicles groomed and serviced before we collect?

We professionally groom all of our vehicles prior to collection (unless stipulated otherwise). In many cases vehicles will have some form of past service history available. We can arrange a fresh service before you collect however this will be an additional cost to you.

Can we buy a mechanical warranty?

Yes please ask your local franchisee for details.
